Hotpot's approach to modeling and servicing an on-call schedule resembles a flight envelope. The schedule's settings and stages yield a system that helps your organization's resilience. Maintaining this envelope drives many of the design decisions inside Hotpot.

For example, consider a schedule with three stages and a 15m escalation at each stage. These settings define the envelope, and Hotpot will enforce this envelope until you change its instructions. This is why Hotpot requires coverage, disallows scheduling unavailable users, and more!
