Some common lingo and jargon within Hotpot

Like most tools, Hotpot has some of it's own lingo and terms. Here are a few that will help you get started!

  • A moment is a control-plane, human-scale event that occurs during your time on call. They have types such as an alert, page, incident or near-miss. The names comes from "Oops, we had a moment there!"

  • A moment group is a collection of moments with a common theme, used to organize and track moments over time.

  • A stint is your time spent on-call. Your week on-call! Some tools or teams may call this a shift.

  • A schedule is the definition of your on-call setup for a group of people.
