2025-04-15 Improved page visibility

It's important to know what's going on when someone is paged. Has it been delivered yet? Hotpot's ability to defer delivery until business hours makes this visibility even more important. We're happy to've shipped a number of paging improvements as well as calendaring and scheduler features!

Hotpot now surfaces delivery issues and links you to the timeline for more information:

We've also made it more clear when a page isn't being delivered because it is outside the user's business hours:

Lastly, the call to action in Hotpot's header now links directly to pages that require attention, saving a click.

🛠️ Paging settings​

Hotpot's urgency settings allow you to choose how disruptive a page should be. Based on feedback we've improved these settings to ensure the delivery of high-urgency pages.

High-urgency pages are no longer eligible for business-hours delivery and you must choose at least one medium for delivery. This avoids situations where high-urgency pages could be treated without high urgency!

📆 Read-only calendar integration​

Hotpot now allows exporting an iCal calendar that can be imported into your favorite calendar client. To enable it, browse to your team's settings and tick the "Enable calendar sync" checkbox then hit save. After enabling, your check your team's schedule page for an iCal link:

Importing this URL into your calendar client will make your team's schedule visible and keep it up to date!

🗓️ Scheduler improvements​

The Smart Scheduler now has improved suggestions, especially for people already assigned a shift. On top of suggestions, tuning has yielded a 75% reduction in runtime in our tests. This improves our backend performance as well as in-app actions that make use of the scheduler.

Upgrade to Tailwind 4​

We've upgraded to the most recent version of Tailwind which is good for maintenance and modernity, but also yielded little bits of polish an improvement around the app.

  • UI: Darkmode (and lightmode) improvements
  • UI: Popovers have been adjusted for better positioning and maintenance
  • UI: The dark/light theme switcher has been removed from user settings in favor of the footer
