2025-04-07 Scheduler improvements for new friends

Hotpot โ€” and on-call in general โ€” is better with friends! To that end, we've been working on making the Smart Scheduler better bringing on new folks. Paging also gets UI improvements this week!

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Scheduler improvementsโ€‹

We've adjusted the Smart Scheduler's approach with regards to recency and total duration when scheduling shifts. In practice, this makes it less aggressive with regards to assigning people that are new to the schedule.

๐Ÿ–๏ธ Availabilityโ€‹

When entering availability, Hotpot now requires the user to select if the availability is hard or soft:

Form widths have been normalized, making buttons and such easier to find.

๐Ÿ“– Shift awarenessโ€‹

User shift listings are now more informative, showing coverage reasons, start and end times, and do so with some small UI improvements.

We've improved the experience with working hours. New users are now prompted to set up their working hours in the app.

๐Ÿ’ผ Other changesโ€‹

  • Backend: Improved tracing, in the event we need to need to debug!
  • Integration: Deel sync has been improved, making it more resilience to corner cases.
  • Scheduler: Availability listings now show both hard and soft unavailability.
  • UI: Responsive improvements, mainly to the dashboard.
  • UI: Team name is now used in the left sidebar widget of the dashboard and team.
  • UI: Improvements to the segmented button component.
  • UI: Better aligned some icons with their text.
