Consider urgency

Hotpot has two escalating urgencies: medium and high. When Hotpot pages the on-call person, we assume it's critical: high urgency. But not every page is a drop-everything situation.

Ensure teammates respond proportionally to pages by understanding where page urgency comes from and how to send less urgent ones.

Urgency and integrations

Many pages come from integrations. Each integration has mechanisms for mapping to Hotpot's urgencies. Check the integration documentation for your tools to see how Hotpot maps their urgency settings.

For example, you may configure Datadog pages to always be high urgency but those coming from GitHub to be medium urgent.
