Establish a backstop
The backstop user acts as the schedule's emergency contact. Hotpot leverages the backstop for situations where it can't satisfy the on-call schedule requirements.
Who is a backstop?
If the schedule cannot resolve an appropriate assignment or shift, the backstop is considered the on-call. This is a last resort, and Hotpot goes to great lengths to squeal, squeak, and squawk at you to avoid this happening.
By default, the user who created the schedule is the schedule's backstop.
note
The backstop user is not the secondary on-call user. To learn about stages like primary and secondary, see multistage schedules.
Change the backstop
To change the backstop user, go to Schedule > Edit Schedule and choose a different user under Backstop.
